THEY came here first!
June 24, 2009 marks the 62nd anniversary of the famous Kenneth Arnold sighting of a formation of silvery disc-shaped UFO’s near Mount Rainier on June 24, 1947. This sighting event by a highly credible businessman and pilot is considered a landmark in UFO history.
Arnold’s description of their flight “like a saucer skipping over the water,” is considered the primary source of the phrase “flying saucer,” an apparent abbreviation for space taken by a reporter. Despite the cultural baggage that is inextricably linked to it, the Kenneth Arnold sighting remains important.
Further, if you study the shape of the craft, it is not a true saucer shape, and it eerily similar to the UFO photographed over Arizona within days, and similar to the unknown aerial vehicles that crashed in Roswell, New Mexico over the July 4th 1947 weekend.
